Statistical Overview of FTP-MOI Activities

  1. Summary of FTP-M.O.I. Activities in Paris and the Suburbs.

The figures may vary slightly depending on the source.

The Jewish FTP carried out “hundreds of dangerous operations, mainly between 1942 (the year the FTP-M.O.I. was founded) and 1944.”

Paris (1942–1943)

  • ≈ 229 armed operations
  • Bombings, acts of sabotage, attacks on convoys, targeted killings
  • ≈ 150 German soldiers killed, ≈ 200 wounded
  • Massive crackdown: ≈ 120 arrests, 70 deportations
  • 23 members of the “Manouchian Group” were executed by firing squad (February 21, 1944). Olga Bancic, head of the weapons depot, was guillotined in Stuttgart, Germany

3. Summary of the Activities of the “Jewish Section” of the M.O.I.

Many Jews in the M.O.I. do not belong to the “Jewish section,” where Yiddish is spoken, and are grouped (in the “Romanian section,” for example) based on the language they primarily speak.

However, the “Jewish section” is the largest, most active, and quickest to become operational:

  • 200 to 250 Jews
  • 120 to 150 armed operations (≈ 60% of FTP-MOI operations in Paris)
  • 80 to 100 German soldiers killed
  • ≈ 150 arrests, ≈ 90 deportations
  • 75% of those executed in the “Red Poster” affair were Jews
