There were about 200 truly active M.O.I. activists, most of whom lived in Paris. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0f35e3a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0f35e3a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>  Within the unions affiliated with the CGTU (General Confederation of Unitary Labor), there are about a dozen Jewish sections (leather and hides, apparel, textiles, baking, etc.) grouped together in a \u201cJewish Inter-Union Commission.\u201d  <\/p><p> <\/p><ul><li><strong>The Kultur Ligue<\/strong> (Cultural League), whose official name is \u201cJewish Educational League,\u201d was founded in 1918 in Kyiv and established in Paris in 1923. Its goal was to promote Yiddish culture and to establish a library and a workers\u2019 university. <\/li><li><strong>The Arbeter Orden<\/strong> (Workers\u2019 Order), a mutual aid society, was founded in 1933. It organized a legal aid clinic, established a health clinic, and founded an association called \u201cFriends of the Jewish Workers\u2019 Children,\u201d which ran a summer camp. <\/li><li>The founders of <strong>YASK<\/strong> (the Jewish Workers&#8217; Sports Club), which had 500 members in 1934, were young people from the Kultur Ligue.<\/li><li>Other members of the Kultur Ligue founded the <strong>AYK<\/strong> (Young Workers&#8217; Club), which became a platform for political and social activism.<\/li><\/ul><p>  Many theater companies were founded in the 1920s.
