With the collaboration of the Vichy regime, they implemented a policy designed to counter attacks by Resistance fighters. <\/p><p> <\/p><p>  Since P\u00e9tain\u2019s government did not have a sufficient number of Resistance members to hold as hostages, it decided to add 51 Jewish internees to the group: 44 were from the Drancy camp, 4 from Fort Romainville, and 3 from the Cherche-Midi prison.<\/p><p>Almost all of them were arrested for &#8220;Judeo-Communist&#8221; activities or for distributing &#8220;Communist&#8221; leaflets.<\/p><p>31 are listed as \u201ccommunists,\u201d 5 as \u201cM.O.I.,\u201d 2 as \u201cunderground Jewish press,\u201d and 1 as a \u201ccommunist from \u2018Solidarity.\u2019\u201d<\/p><p> <\/p><p>  Half of them were arrested between August 19 and 23, 1941, after being \u201csummoned\u201d to police stations in Paris.<\/p><p>On December 15, 1941, 95 members of the Resistance were executed by firing squad: 69 at Mont-Val\u00e9rien in Suresnes, 13 in Caen, 9 at La Blisi\u00e8re near Ch\u00e2teaubriant, and 4 in Fontevraud.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>  Three-quarters of the hostages shot at Mont-Val\u00e9rien on December 15, 1941, were Jews.
