Throughout 1943, the Jewish Communist underground and resistance press<\/a> remained active. The UJRE\u2019s official newspapers were *Droit & Libert\u00e9* in <\/em>French and *Unzer Wort*<\/a><\/em> in Yiddish<\/a>. The newspaper was published increasingly often in French under the title *Notre Parole* and <\/em>never ceased to call for the struggle. <\/p>

Armed fighters rely on resistance members who carry out technical and political tasks. Some engage in both armed and non-military actions. All risk their lives. The transport and recovery of weapons or the deliberate derailment of enemy trains loaded with combat equipment may be accompanied, for example, by the establishment of a printing press. <\/p>


<\/p>\n

Information is vital. It circulates through the press or via leaflets printed in clandestine print shops<\/a>. Jewish communist resistance fighters thus work to raise awareness among Jews and the general public about the existence of the extermination camps<\/a>. The crimes of the Nazis must be known to all. <\/p>


<\/p>\n

Jewish Communist resistance fightersalso <\/span> distinguished themselvesin acts of <\/span>civil resistance<\/a>. They trained <\/span>liaison agents <\/a>, many of whom were women. They relayed messages and information between resistance fighters and, at times, transported small arms or sums of money. While operating entirely underground, other tasks were also essential: producing <\/span>false documents<\/a>, finding \u201chideouts\u201d for Resistance members, selecting host families <\/span>for Jewish children, and raising funds to meet these needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UJRE has made clear its determination to resist Nazism throughout France through a wide variety of actions, both armed and unarmed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
