Others return to their home countries in the hope of building socialism there. But anti-Semitism persists there, and many, feeling disappointed, will leave\u2026<\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p>After the restoration of the Republic and the return to democracy they had longed for, many survivors became involved in Jewish organizations that had emerged from the Resistance. They provide material and legal assistance to Jewish families in need<strong>. Many <\/strong>activists are involved with<a href=\"#\" data-note=\"16940\">the UJRE<\/a>, which was highly influential in the immediate postwar period. They are working to ensure that the specific role their organizations played in the Resistance is recognized. They<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">want to reconnect with the prewar cultural, social, and political movements.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"> <\/span><\/p><p>The CCE, <a href=\"#\" data-note=\"10825\">the Central Commission for Children<\/a> within the UJRE, was established in 1945. An organization dedicated to caring for Jewish orphans whose parents were exterminated is an absolute priority. Under the leadership of Joseph <a href=\"#\" data-note=\"17142\">Minc<\/a>, an initial executive committee is being formed. It is made up of four former members of the M.O.I. resistance movement (C\u00e9cile <a href=\"#\" data-note=\"17164\">Cerf<\/a>, Sczmulek<a href=\"#\" data-note=\"17098\"> Farber<\/a>, Jeanne <a href=\"#\" data-note=\"17043\">List-Pakin<\/a>, and Sophie <a href=\"#\" data-note=\"5261 \">Schwartz<\/a>) and two educators (Louba Pludermacher and Isidore Berstein). The Central Commission for Children, which employs highly innovative teaching methods, is made up of various organizations. Children&#8217;s homes (known as &#8220;foyers&#8221;) provide care for orphans.
